Safeguarding Children
The term safeguarding children means different things to different people. For a parent keeping their children safe is a big part of their role and they do it so much it becomes 2nd nature to them. People who work with children day in day out also develop an awareness of hazards and take steps to keep the children in their care safe.
However, safeguarding children when you work with them goes far beyond keeping them safe from physical hazards, such as wet floors. However, UK legislation goes much further than that. The law states that people who work with children have to keep them safe. Plus the UK is a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states the right of children to be free from abuse.
Safeguarding Children Policies
In order to comply with the law, and improve the quality of life for children in the UK schools, care homes, social services and many charities have developed safeguarding children policies. These policies are designed not only to protect them from physical harm they are designed to enable staff to spot early signs of abuse and to help the child to deal with that abusive situation.
Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
